We catch up with Australian tech house star Fisher, whose new track “Take It Off” (feat. Aatig) has made it to the top of the Beatport charts.
Hello Paul, Congratulations on your new Beatport number 1 with “Take It Off.” How are you?
I’m good, thank you. I just got to America for the weekend to do some shows.
People have been waiting for this track to come out since your Coachella set. Tell us a little bit about how this track came about.
Crazy how this track went so viral at Coachella. I remember putting a video up on TikTok of “Take It Off“ a week before Coachella, and at the time, I didn’t realize how powerful TikTok was. The song went viral on their platform. The following week Chris and I performed at Coachella, and people were already singing the song. I was like, “WOW!!!” That was pretty amazing and surreal…
“Take It Off” feels more house-y than your previous releases. Was this intentional?
No, not at all. I think with the vocal being so fun and catchy, we just wanted to keep the tune itself light and sexy and just have a real fun vibe to it. But it still also smashes a dance floor.
The track is featuring Gita Lake under her new alias Aatig who was also the voice on “Losing It.” How was it to record with Gita again?
It’s always so fun with Gita. We just have an amazing chemistry in the studio. We never try to take things too seriously and always just make sure we are having so much fun and having a laugh, that’s what it’s all about.
“Take It Off” kicked Dom Dolla’s single “Eat Your Man” off the number 1 spot, which might make it the first time that two tracks from Australian artists are at the top of the Beatport charts. What’s your relationship with Dom?
It’s amazing to see two Australian artists at the top. There is so much talent coming out of that country and it makes me proud to be a part of it. Dom is an amazing producer and a great guy with a beautiful mustache. He deserves to be there.
You just finished your first three-day Triip festival in Malta. How did it go?
Honestly, it could not have gone any better! It was so amazing from start to finish. The energy from the people and the parties was all so epic and Malta is so beautiful. Everyone was just smiling and having the best times. You could not have scripted it any better if you tried. It was such a magical time, and I can’t wait to do it again next year!
