LA underground staples and Delusional Records label heads, Maude Vôs & Marie Nyx, celebrate Pride with a mind-bending selection of tracks from some of their favorite LGBTQIA+ artists for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.
We are Maude Vôs and Marie Nyx, co-founders of Delusional Records in Los Angeles. In 2021, we launched the Delusional with a shared vision to uplift underrepresented artists and create a community around change and visibility within the electronic music industry. Since we come from two diverse musical backgrounds, the fusion of our sound is very unique. Our sets include a vast array of genre-bending electronic music ranging from breakbeats to groovy house to leftfield experimental to driving techno.
The tracks we have selected are a showcase of our own productions, label releases, and innovative dance tracks from our favorite LGBTQIA+ artists. We hope you enjoy the tracks and Happy Pride!
Maude Vôs, Marie Nyx – In the Club Out [Delusional Records]
With vocals by Marie, production by Maude, and collective songwriting, this is a groovy Pride anthem that you’ll find yourself singing along to. The track is an ode to queer club culture and showcases visibility around each diverse identity in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Baby Weight – Slay 4 Me (feat. Jesse Fields) [HE.SHE.THEY]
This track feels like an ode to drag and ballroom culture and is definitely a Pride anthem. We love how unapologetic Baby Weight is in living her truth and how she is such an advocate for queer people in the electronic music industry. She has a forthcoming remix for us in celebration of pride for the “In the Club Out” remix compilation.
Planningtorock – Gay Dreams Do Come True [Human Level]
This classic house track is the epitome of queer joy and is really fun to sing along to. We resonate with this song because we are each living our best queer dream lives.
Maude Vôs – You Can Be [Delusional Records]
You Can Be is an ode to numerous magical friendships and moments I (Maude) have forged in queer club spaces over the years. I am hopeful that listeners feel seen in this song and come together on dance floors in celebration of queerness.
Sherelle – GETOUTOFMYHEAD [fabric Records (US)]
We are very inspired by the opportunity and accessibility that Sherelle is creating for underrepresented artists in electronic music. She recently launched a recording studio and academy to support black and queer artist development to help break down some of the barriers they face in starting careers in the music industry. This fast, bouncy track is a showcase of her revered high-energy sound and hard house is a modern throwback to classic sounds we both love.
Trovarsi – Ricochet [Delusional Records]
Trovarsi has been supporting our vision for the label since day one and is one of our resident artists. Her track Ricochet was her second release with us and can be found on our First Anniversary compilation. This track’s bouncy groove and rhythmic chord stabs always keep the dance floor moving when we drop it in a set. Trovarsi’s work transcends genres, cultures, and boundaries, and we are continuously inspired by her love for hosting community-building and educational events about electronic music and synthesizers through her organization, The SoCal Synth Society.
Maara – Princess Express [Kalahari Oyster Cult]
We have both been very inspired by Maara’s dreamy yet driving progressive techno. Her releases never disappoint and she has become one of our favorite producers. We love the apparent lesbian representation in her work as well.
Leonce – Axial [Morph Tracks]
This track was frequently rinsed in Maude’s 2021 DJ sets and streams. The record it was released on was their introduction to Leonce, and he became a favorite producer of both of ours. He is now a remixer on our “In the Club Out” remix compilation, and we couldn’t be more grateful to work with him.
Mars Kasei – Cosmic Love [Moveltraxx]
Cosmic Love is a footwork banger with a thick, distorted bass and eerie synth line we can’t get enough of. It has become a dance floor staple in our community and we are happy to watch this EP receive the recognition it deserves. Mars will be featured on one of our upcoming releases on Delusional, and we couldn’t be more proud to have her work on the label.
Object Blue – Exorcism of a Self-Help Book [TT]
We saw Object Blue last year and were wow’d by her set. We both have a strong love for leftfield and experimental music, and this track’s textures and obscurity speak to us cerebrally.
