With Beatport Insider, we look at key stats from the Beatport store each month. With 2023 coming to a close, we look at the artists, tracks, and labels across all genres that took the top spots in Beatport’s sales and streaming charts over the past 12 months.
With its slick guitar line and ’90s rave-inspired aura, Peggy Gou‘s summertime earworm “(It Goes Like) Nanana” on XL Recordings is Beatport’s number 1 best-selling track of 2023. Coming in at number two is Fisher‘s loose and sexy tech house single featuring Gita Lake (aka Aatig), “Take It Off,” and locking down the bronze, we have the indomitable trio of Fred again.., Four Tet, and Skrillex, with their immense Lil Baby sampled dance floor weapon “Baby again...”
Mark Knight’s behemoth dance floor institution Toolroom — which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year — again proves that it is a force to be reckoned with, consistently pumping out authentic and defining club records and taking home the crown as Beatport’s top-selling label of 2023. Following close behind is Tale Of Us’ melodic techno fixture Afterlife Records, and Insomniac Records comes in at number three, having pushed out numerous chart-topping hits from the likes of Westend, Mau P, James Hype, BLOND:ish, and more.
Having rocked the dance music world and beyond with an unexpected dual album drop back in February — Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close — coupled with the fact that his Pangbourne House Mafia track cracked the top three best-sellers tracklist this year, it comes as no surprise that Skrillex is Beatport’s top-selling artist of 2023. His production partner in crime, Fred again.. finds himself in the supporting position at number two, and everyone’s favorite tech house party starter, Fisher, comes in at number three.
