Yaeji Announces Details of Debut Artist Album “With A Hammer”

The Korean-American singer and producer Yaeji has announced details of her imminent debut album ‘With A Hammer” as well as lead single “For Granted”.

“With A Hammer” is the debut studio album by New York’s superstar singer-songwriter Yaeji. Having reigniting New York dance culture with her first two EPs, her ever-evolving output now moves towards what is arguably the ultimate artistic statement at this point in her career: The Artist Album, which is forthcoming on XL Recordings. Yaeji released her debut mixtape What We Drew 우리가 그려왔던 in 2020, and the following year she teamed up with South Korean musician Oh Hyuk for “Year to Year” and “29.”

As a taster for the new album project, she has also just released the lead single for the upcoming album “For Granted,” along with a music video accompanying the track. Meanwhile, the album was composed across a two-year period in New York, Seoul and in London, begun shortly after the release of What We Drew and during lockdown. It’s an ode to self-exploration and is undeniably a proper departure from her previous work, blending elements of trip-hop and rock with her familiar house-influenced style, and deals with darker, more self-reflective lyrical themes in both English and Korean. You can listen to the super-catchy vocal-lead and unmistakably drum ‘n’ bass-inspired release below. We can’t wait to hear the whole record and see what else she has in store for us this spring and summer!

The same month she releases With A Hammer, Yaeji will also play both weekends of Coachella alongside Björk, Overmono, TSHA and more.
