Dutch Afro House artist Cincity celebrates the release of her debut EP Kijiji on African Tales with a vibrant selection of dance floor ballads for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.
Hi everyone! I am Cindy Kiota, but most of you know me as DJ / producer Cincity. I am so happy to be contributing to Beatport and sharing this playlist with you. I’ve gotten to know so many new artists and music over the years thanks to Beatport, so now it’s a chance for people to get to know me.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a Dutch artist with Congolese roots who has just debuted on Floyd Lavine’s Afrikan Tales label with my EP Kijiji. It’s an honour to be part of this label’s vision to showcase African electronic music in a futuristic way. This special release has capped off an amazing year, with gig highlights including Awakenings Festival, Tomorrowland and Germany’s legendary Fusion Festival. I also played for Black Coffee twice in both Rotterdam and London and did a b2b with Seth Troxler at Pikes, Ibiza. Hosting my own concept Agartha at Pleinvrees Festival was a standout moment for me as well.
This is my top 10 tracks that showcases my style and vibe. I know it can be difficult to express oneself in a few songs. These old and new tracks will give you a glimpse into my musical mind. Enjoy!
Cincity’s Kijiji EP is out now via African Tales. Buy it on Beatport.
Lazarusman, Yves Eaux, Levy M – Out Out (Cincity Space Mix) [Nervous records]
Levy M contacted me and asked if I wanted to do a remix for OUT OUT. I loved the track immediately (incl Afro edit). So, I was super excited to be a part of this. I’m happy with the result and all the good reactions to my space mix.
Gaoulé Müzik – A aka Tintine (Dam Swindle Remix) [Heist Recordings]
This remix is by my fellow Dutch DJ/producers Dam Swindle, and it’s just sublime. The moment I press play, it gives me so much joy. I just can’t stop dancing when I hear this.
Black Motion – It’s You (feat. Miss P) [Defected]
This song is everything, the emotions the driving rhythms, the hypnotic vocals. I get shivers every time I hear it.
Cincity, TorQue MuziQ – Kijiji (feat. ZIDDO & B’utiza) [Afrikan Tales]
The lead track from my debut EP. Kijiji is an Afro-fusion track that’s perfect for sunset and sunrise moments. The moment the track starts, it immediately takes you to another dimension bringing the warmth and happiness just like the sun. ‘Kjiji’ means village, but I would describe it as the Village of Love. My kind of utopia where people of all colours and backgrounds live together in harmony. A place where only Love can save humanity. In the track, B’utiza explains how Love is not an easy thing, but we need to hold on to it as it’s Everything we’ve got.
Sobek – Jewel of the Nile (Original Mix) [Abracadabra Records]
I’ve been a fan of Sobek for a while now. When you hear the track it makes you wonder, where it will take you. And then when it hits you, there’s no way back. Massive tribal and space vibes, just the way I like.
Louie Vega – Breath of Life (Circle Dance Mix) [NuLu Music]
Louie Vega giving us that Ancestral vibe. I love how the tracks takes us on an endless journey with a lot of flavor. This track works very well on the dance floor.
Floyd Lavine – Vaseline [Afrikan Tales]
Floyd is a good friend and also a Mastermind. Love the way he takes afro music to another dimension outside of this planet. It’s a vibe – it’s da future.
Mike Dunn – Phreaky MF (MD Remix) [Classic Music Company]
I mean it’s classic and dirty, that’s what I like about it. People still go crazy when they hear this track.
Rampa – The Church (Original Mix) [CircoLoco Records]
You know when you’re deep in it and you don’t want to leave the club. This song will hit you hard. Love the vibe, the energy and every element of the track.
