Dirtybird brings in an all-star cast of label regulars to remix Claude VonStroke’s fourth studio album, Freaks & Beaks.
Dirtybird leader Claude VonStroke‘s fourth studio album, Freaks & Beaks, has been revamped with a top-notch cast of label regulars and up-and-comers featuring on Freaks & Beaks Remixes.
The six-track remix package properly exhibits the spectrum of sounds and genres Dirtybird has taken pride in exploring and conquering over the past few years. Melodic house maestro Rodriguez Jr. reworks “Youngblood” with an acidic spin, Shiba San and Millad stay true to their tech house dominion on “All My People In The House,” and Steve Darko delivers a blustering bass house interpretation of the same tune. Veteran French artist Frankie, who served as the inspiration for VonStroke’s track “Frankie Goes to Bollywood,” was tracked down and brought out of retirement to deliver a minimalist remix of his namesake track.
In addition, two artists from the Beatport Next program — VNSSA (class of 2021) and Nikki Nair (class of 2022) — feature on the remix record. VNSSA imbues her main-room techno energy on “These Notes In This Order,” while Nikki Nair brings his savage and groundbreaking production style to “Flubblebuddy.” Listen below.
Claude VonStroke describes the remix pack: “Just like our record label this remix pack goes from thoughtful deep tracks to huge bangers and lots of places in between. There is something for all kinds of house music DJs in here.”
