Kornél Kovács offers up the first taste of his third studio album, Hotel Koko — dropping October 14th via Studio Barnhus.
One of Stockholm’s most visionary dance floor leaders, Kornél Kovács, has announced that his third studio album, Hotel Koko, will be arriving via the artist’s acclaimed Studio Barnhus imprint on October 14th.
Featuring some of his most exploratory and refreshingly accessible productions to date, the forthcoming nine-track LP presents a spectrum of masterful and boundless dance floor escapades that aim to further blur the line between underground dance music and pop. The album is packed with a myriad of artist features such as Studio Barnhus regulars Off The Meds and Kamohelo to Costa Rican popstar MishCatt, jazz musician Niclas Skagstedt, and more.
To celebrate the album announcement, Kornél Kovács has brought us our first visit to Hotel Koko with “Follow You” — an impassioned and wistful UKG slammer featuring the unmistakable vocal work of supernova DJ and producer Aluna. Listen below.
Speaking on the album concept, Kornél explains: “I wanted this album to centre around a fictional, dreamlike place. I’ve often had friends staying at my flat in Stockholm while I’ve been away touring or recording. At one point I wrote down some basic information and silly “house rules” on a paper, making it look like stationery for a Hotel Koko. I found that piece of paper while cleaning my flat a while back, that’s when the idea and the album title fell into place. I think all hotels, from the shabbiest to the most luxurious, have a sense of fantasy and mystique about them, they’re these ‘liminal spaces’ if you will, where anything could happen behind the locked hotel room doors.”
