One of the most prolific DJ/producers on the drum & bass circuit, A.M.C, hits us with some of his best high-powered dance floor weapons for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.
I’ve been DJing for 20-plus years, and I’m still not bored of it. I don’t think I ever will. Sometimes I feel like things are slowing, but someone always turns it. That might be a brand new act bringing a fresh sound to our scene or a tune that’s 15 years old being given a new breath of life. Drum & Bass is anything but stale, and it’s one of the few subgenres of dance music to have such a diverse and internal subculture that I’m never running out of tunes to play.
A.M.C – Don’t Forget The Dots [Titan Records]
It goes without saying that I will never stop campaigning around the dots in my name. So, I couldn’t think of a better way to start this takeover than to remind people; Don’t Forget The F***ing Dots!!!
The Qemists – Stompbox (Spor Remix) [Computer Integrated Audio]
For me, this remix will always be a crowd pleaser, and it’s such a wicked record to have in the set as it’s a handy mixing tool.
Junk Mail, A.M.C – Blocklist [RAM Records]
I have always been a massive supporter of Stef (Junk Mail). We’ve been friends for years. So to get into the studio together and combine our sounds officially was bound to happen. After opening my UKF Air On set with it and the instant reaction it got, I knew we had something special.
Total Science – Squash (Break Remix) [Ninja Tune]
Break never seems to miss a beat when it comes to the work he puts out, and I can’t see there being a moment where he doesn’t.
Koven – Followers (A.M.C Remix) [Monstercat]
After hearing the sound design in the original record and the heavier 2nd drop, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. Testing it out at Let It Roll and having Koven perform it live made it extra special.
Noisia – Block Control [Moving Shadow]
It’s mad to think that this record was released in 2005, and it’s still hitting my sets regularly. It’s a true sentiment to the production geniuses involved in the Noisia Project to have a tune that’s ‘so old’ still hold up in 2022.
State of Mind, Smooth – Runaway Train [Blackout Music NL]
With so much new music being every week, it’s sometimes hard to find something that sounds fresh, and this one definitely caught my ear when it dropped into my inbox. State Of Mind and Smooth are household names within the drum & bass scene, so to see them come together like this and give us all something a little bit different is really refreshing, and it proper goes off.
A.M.C – Bass [Titan Records]
One of my favourite tracks from my Void LP, “Bass” came about while I was messing around with the mic in the studio shouting, “the vibes are in the bass,” and trying to keep a straight face while doing it! I’m really excited to release the Teddy Killerz remix of “Bass” soon at the end of August.
Calibre – Carry Me Away [Signature]
I wanted to have something more musical on this list but didn’t want it to be too obvious, so I went for “Carry Me Away” by Calibre. Pretty much everything he does is pure gold, but when the pianos come in on this tune, it’s always guaranteed a reaction, and that’s before the track has even dropped!
Dream Team – Stamina [Suburban Bass Records]
Finishing off with a slice of pure jungle madness straight from Suburban Bass Records, “Stamina” is one of those tunes that has it all. From the dub roots intro to the mad bass drop and all the shouts and hooks in between, Stamina is one of the all-time jungle classics.
