Portugal’s essential electronic music imprint Piston Recordings looks back on 15 years of dance floor excellence.
A label that has been instrumental in putting Portugal’s independent dance music scene on the map, Piston Recordings is one of the country’s most prolific outlets for deep house, minimal, techno, and everything in between. Since 2007, label head Rogério Martins has worked tirelessly to find fresh talent with a knack for heated grooves and profound beats while giving them the means to break out and impress their sound upon clubland. Some of these acts include Photonz, Marc Noble, HUGEhands, Accatone, and Ritz, with heavyweights like Kerri Chandler, Rick Wade, Jay Tripwire, and more also making appearances on the label. Now celebrating its 15-year-anniversary, we caught up with Rogério Martins to learn more about the label’s history, its ethos, and the tracks that have come to define this essential imprint.
