With Beatport Insider, we look at key stats from the Beatport store each month. This time, we look at the artists, tracks, and labels across all genres that have dominated Beatport’s sales and streaming charts over the past six months.
With half of the year now behind us, we take a look back at the imprints, tracks, and producers whose music, across all genres, have taken Beatport by storm in 2021 (so far). After holding the crown for many years, Defected has officially been dethroned by Afterlife Records as the top-selling and most-streamed music label on the site, with imprints like SPINNIN’, Anjunadeep, and Toolroom following behind. All in a dead heat, only time will tell which of these dance floor institutions will take home the glory as our top label of the year.
The cross-genre dance floor kingpin James Hype has climbed his way up to become Beatport’s best-selling artist of the year up to this point, with Joel Corry and PAX taking the bronze and silver respectively. Tale of Us member Matteo Milleri’s (AKA Anyma) comes in at number four on the best-sellers list, holding the site’s most streamed and purchased track of 2022 at the year’s halfway mark, “Running (feat. Meg Myers).” This is followed by Chicago’s tech house golden boy John Summit, whose zesty, Latin-influenced tune “La Danza” keeps racking up those numbers. Check out the rest of the stats below!
