Legendary Scottish techno duo Slam showcase the techno and electro sounds that are currently dominating their DJ sets for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.
Last year, when the world was thrown into collective disarray, the concept for our collaborative series Louder Than Chaos was born. While the dance floors were empty and we had to stay home, we wanted to use this time to collaborate with the artists and our friends that we would usually only see at airports or gigs.
Now that we are able to be back doing what we love best — playing shows — this playlist encapsulates our current DJ sets and the type of techno we listen to on the road. We’ve featured some current selections from our own Soma label, a few from our new electro sub-label Avoidant, and some of our favourite tracks out there from stellar producers.

Slam, Amelie Lens – Uncontrolled [Soma]
This is from Volume 4 of our collaborative series, and it’s proved a firm favourite on the dance floor — dark and powerful with an ominous and twisting synth hook.
Slam, Rebekah – Believe In The Night [Soma]
Taken from our Louder Than Chaos Vol.3 collaboration with Rebekah, a no-nonsense burner.
Jay Clarke – Riding The Storm (Aero Mix) [Blackaxon]
A superb dark and thundering remix of one of our favourite UK artists.
Autonomous – Dialekt [Avoidant]
Taken from our electro alias Autonomous’ first release on Avoidant. Harking back to Drexyian era Detroit.
Lewis Fautzi – Simulated Desorption [Pole Group]
Lewis is the king of warping techno and this is a great example of his sound.
MIG/L – Fragment Of Existence [Perscribed Trax]
Peak-time, warehouse vibes on this one from MIG/L.
Slam, Optic Nerve – Machine Conflict [Soma]
One of our favourite collaborations as part of the Louder Than Chaos series with the legendary Optic Nerve.
Perc – Resistor [Perc Trax]
Typical weapons-grade techno from a UK master.
DJ Genderfluid – Acid Uprising [A7A]
Superb twisted acid sounds take you back to the classic ‘90s raves.
Carl Finlow – Engines Of Creation [Avoidant]
Another UK legend this time dropping an absolute gem on Avoidant with straight-up robotic, electro flex.
EAS – Tsukuyomi [OMEN Recordings]
Hard-hitting, rave-infected industrial sounds straight out of the US of A.
Andreas Krämer, Shadym – Schandmaul [DSR Digital]
No messing around from hard techno royalty.

Blawan showing his unpredictable yet idiosyncratic production style on his latest release.
The Exaltics – One Direct Line [Avoidant]
Taken from the latest VA on Avoidant, a deep and sweeping electro trip.

Monster techno from one of Soma’s most recent signings.
