The SAMA nominated Afro house linchpin’s new 11-track album drops on December 3rd via Paradise Sound System.
Affectionally known by many as the “King Of Dance” in his native South Africa, renowned singer/songwriter Zakes Bantwini is gearing up to release his third studio album, Ghetto King — dropping December 3rd via Paradise Sound System.
The highly-anticipated Afro house LP will wrap up a breakthrough year for the South African dance floor staple, following the release of singles like “Girl In The Mirror,” “Love Again,” and his uplifting Kasango collaboration, “Osama” — a track that received widespread support from some of Afro house scene’s best and brightest.
A project rich in soundscapes from South Africa and beyond, Ghetto King is a showcase and a celebration from an artist effortlessly merging traditional influences with modern electronic touches. The album features collaborations with Amanda Black, Drega, Skillz, Blaqrhythm, and many other South African talents. The LP also includes a remix of Zakes’ hit 2020 track ‘Amanga‘ from internationally renowned DJ/producer Da Capo. Listen to a preview of Zakes Bantwini’s Ghetto King below.
“Over the last few years, I have worked to develop my sound and live set into the electronic Afro space now reflected on this record,” says Zakes Bantwini about the album. “Coming from a full live house band with eight musicians to the electronic solo featured on ‘Ghetto King’ has been a journey, to say the least. Now witnessing ‘Osama’ grow from a chant to a song for the people; carried by the people has been incredible, and I’m ecstatic that the years of hard work have finally come to fruition.”
