Playlist of the Week: Sonny Fodera

Solotoko boss Sonny Fodera reveals some of his most successful rave belters from this past year with Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.

It’s so good to get back out there raving again! I made another album during lockdown, and it’s amazing to be able to test out the tunes. The tracks I have selected have been doing damage at festivals and in the clubs lately since their return. It also features some of my own tracks from my forthcoming album, Wide Awake, out on October 22nd.

I also wanted to put in some older gems that still go off, such as “Long Time” by Inland Knights and “Pump It All” by Fantaboys, along with some new classics that have been absolutely killing it! I hope you guys like it!

Sonny Fodera, Vintage Culture, MKLA – Last Thought [Solotoko]

This is a new one I’ve just released with Vintage Culture. The first time we dropped it was at 6 AM in Sao Paulo b3b with Kungs. It went off in this packed crowd in the middle of the city. I’ve been playing it out a lot lately since it’s officially released, and it’s been absolutely going nuts!

Chris Lorenzo – California Dreamin’ (feat. High Jinx) [Black Book Records]

Chris Lorenzo sent me that track before it dropped, and I was playing some shows in LA, so I decided to play that while I was there, and it was definitely a highlight of my set in California. A now, it’s a Beatport number one! Check it out!

CID, Dombresky – R.E.A.L [Night Service Only]

They’ve used a really cool sample from an old-school hip-hop track. It takes me back to the early days of my career when I first started out playing hip-hop sets.

Jamie Roy – Organ Belta [Trick]

This is an absolute dance floor weapon! The energetic organ and piano samples weave really well into my sets. I played it in Glasgow (Jamie Roy is from Scotland), and the crowd just went absolutely crazy.

Ewan McVicar – Tell Me Something Good [Trick]

Another smash, it’s a hit! I played this one in Scotland recently as well, and it was definitely a highlight of my set. I love the energy from the Scottish crew and the talent coming through on their scene at the moment.

Sonny Fodera – Angel (Feat. Clementine Douglas) [Solotoko]

This is another new track off my album. I played it for the very first time during my set at my co-headline Back To Love festival in London this summer. It was a very special moment as Clementine Douglas joined me on stage to sing it as well as being able to play at my own festival in the city I call home.

Jamie Jones – Handy Work [Hot Creations]

Love this tune! I always love what Jamie does, it kind of reminds me of what he was doing about 5-10 years ago, and this tune is just an absolute weapon.

Stylo, Space Motion – Player [Space Motion Records]

I heard Eric Prydz play this tune in Manchester, such a banger! I actually played it in Amsterdam over the weekend at elrow, and it definitely was the biggest track I played from the whole set. The reaction was insane!

Skytech, Neitan, DJ Kuba – Dancin’ (Wh0 Extended Festival Remix) [Spinnin’ Records]

This is a remake of an old classic. I played this for the first time at a festival in Brighton. It went off, and it was sick, haha!

Vintage Culture, Fflora, Meca – Butterflies (Feat. Tristan Henry) [Solotoko]

This one was released on my Solotoko imprint, definitely one of my favourites to come out on the label this year.

Sonny Fodera’s Wide Awake LP drops on October 22nd via Solotoko.
