The Chicago producer recruits Felix Da Housecat, Flo Milli, and 8AE to feature on his new genre-defying house and hip-hop EP.
Grammy nominated hip hop artist NEZ has dropped a brand new three-track EP called Midnight Music, which brings hip hop and house together like never before.
Growing up in Chicago, NEZ witnessed the birth of house music firsthand, thanks in part to his uncles, who were DJs during the genre’s rise in the ’80s and followed in the footsteps of legends like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy.
Before Midnight Music, NEZ worked with the likes of Chance The Rapper, A$AP Rocky, Coltrane, Vic Mensa, and Tinashe. He also released his debut house track “Wild Youngster” with ScHoolboy Q on Three Six Zero Recordings back in January, and the single was quickly remixed by none other than Jamie Jones.
For his latest EP, NEZ teams up with house legend Felix Da Housecat on “Lift Off,” which mixes minimal grooves and deep acid lines with rap and pop vocals that blend with a wild dance floor attitude.
“My Love” keeps things deep and sexy, while “To The Money” features rappers Flo Milli and 8AE, showcasing a hybrid sound that brings stripped-back four-four jackin’ beats and contemporary rap lyricism together in new and exciting ways.
Midnight Music is out now via Three Six Zero Recordings.
