As part of our exclusive music partnership with Twitch, Beatport has launched The Residency, a new series at the center of our monthly livestream programming.

Every month, Beatport will give full control of our Twitch channel to some of the world’s foremost dance music artists. Four times a month, our chosen resident will recruit both established and up-and-coming talent to join them on the decks for personally curated shows that will showcase the host’s taste and artistic vision.

Copenhagen pop-dance trio WhoMadeWho took the helm for our November residency with a list of phenomenal talent slated to perform throughout November, including Axel Boman, Michael Mayer, Perel, Rebolledo, Terr, and more.

WEEK ONE

WhoMadeWho eased into the stream with a luscious live performance from their red-cloaked studio lair with glistening arpeggios, chugging beats, and some hairraising, on-the-spot vocals. Adana Twins stepped up next to turn things up a notch before Greek electronic music maestro Echonomist closed us out with an infectious and atmospheric set.

WEEK TWO

Appearing on-screen with a lit-up Speicher eagle behind him, Kompakt founder Micahel Mayer stepped up to the plate to kick things off for week two, bringing a whole host of disco and his label’s famous strain of techno pop to the forefront. Axel Boman lowered us down into a dark and perfectly peculiar space with his DJ set and Marc Piñol followed with a timed and quality showcase of electronic fusions, while our hosts WhoMadeWho capped things off with a blissed-out DJ set.

WEEK THREE

After a live set and a straight DJ set, WhoMadeWho launched into the third episode of their residency with a special hybrid DJ set, incorporating everything from a guitar to a melodica and more into their majestic sound. German powerhouse Perel followed with a hard-hitting display of techno and indie dance before Rebolledo (Pachanga Boys/Hippie Dance) threw some vinyl on from his home to remind us why he has always been a maverick presence in underground dance culture.

WEEK FOUR

For the final installment of WhoMadeWho’s November residency with Beatport, the trio invited Mexican DJ-producer, sound engineer, and founder of the label Akumandra, Sainte Vie, to perform an enchanting live DJ set before Phantasy’s rising Brazilian star TERR stepped up to the decks with a rousing set of indie electronic gems. Following a final live extravaganza from WhoMadeWho, Innervisions’ head honcho Frank Wiedemann stepped in to jam with the Danish group before taking our viewers on with a stirring live set of his own.
