Welcome back to On Our Radar, Beatportal’s monthly roundup of the DJs and producers we can’t get enough of.
TOMMY FARROW
Ever since Tommy Farrow’s 2020 single “Let’s Just” blew everyone’s minds, he’s been on the radar of just about every house head on the planet. Over the last three years he’s had tracks crowned ‘Hottest Record In The World’ by BBC Radio 1, won support from Sarah Story and Jaguar and played every respectable UK institution from Warehouse Project to Electric Garden Festival. In 2023 he dropped two singles from his upcoming 7-track EP – “Her” and “We Should Find The Stars” – which gained early support from Radio 1 and KISS FM as well as participants of packed dance floors. Now Tommy counts industry titans John Digweed and Bicep as fans, with releases on the likes of Stress Records and Armada Music. There’s no doubt 2024 has Tommy Farrow’s name on it.
ADRIANNA
2023 was a big year for ADRIANNA. She released her Beatport Hype hit “Confidence” on DJ S.K.T’s Stashed Music, and two huge singles – “Falling” and “Got The Night” – on her Temple House Music label. Adrianna’s music treads the line between tech house and techno, blending soaring vocals with muscular, club-ready beats. In the last few years, the DJ and producer has played and held residencies across the UK, Ibiza, Cyprus, Mexico, India, Dubai, Qatar, and the Maldives, performing alongside Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Cloonee, Idris Elba, Patrick Topping and many more global names. Her latest single “To Life” is a hard-hitting techno slammer featuring spoken-word vocals alongside pummelling builds and euphoric drops. Currently residing in London and with a residency in Qatar, and a forthcoming release titled “Wild Electric” arriving this April, ADRIANNA is fast becoming a global techno phenomenon.
CLUB ANGEL
Club Angel is making waves in Australia and beyond with kaleidoscopic live sets that blend the energy of the late ‘90s UK dance scene with the ceaseless momentum of 2-step, jungle and bass. His first release came out in 2022 on Astral People Recordings, championing high energy UK sounds and setting a trajectory for his colourful career. In 2023 he joined B.O.T.A hitmaker Interplanetary Criminal for his sold-out show in Melbourne, and his most recent release comes in the form of single “Cry,” an emotive, electronica track that explores the moodier side of Club Angel’s artistry with sampled orchestral stabs and melancholic vocals. Described as a “rave-flickered hyper-ballad,” the artist channels Overmono and Two Shell to create an unforgettable club anthem that sets a precedent for a huge year ahead.
SHAY DE CASTRO
LA-based Shay de Castro wrapped up 2023 with the release of her track “Memento” via Factory 93. The peak time techno track reached #18 on the Beatport Techno (Peaktime / Driving) Chart and was included in the label’s Best of Factory 93: 2023 compilation alongside artists like Nicole Moudabar, Enamour, Weska, Charles D, Space 92 and many more. Her incendiary productions and high-octane DJ sets have won the attention of Amelie Lens, Adam Beyer and Alan Fitzpatrick, and she recently supported four of Eli Brown’s sold out US tour dates. She has a huge year lined up, with a set at Beyond Wonderland, Elation in Vegas and another release for Factory 93 already locked in. It looks like techno’s got a new queen.

AVNU
Over the last two years AVNU has become synonymous with Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio. He released his first full-length album Tough To Love But Worth The Effort on the imprint, and collaborated with the boss in 2023 to serve up a batch of unforgettable singles. Currently based on the East coast of Scotland, AVNU has mastered the art of house and techno production and steadily built a reputation as a world-class DJ. His next release is “Next Caller,” out at the end of January on Ellum Audio. It’s the perfect blend of nostalgic and future-facing sounds, with an old-school phone ring kicking off proceedings followed by heavy kicks, slow-burning, hypnotic rhythms and kaleidoscopic builds. It’s a freaky and unhinged extravaganza, as unapologetic as it is unique, and a reminder that AVNU’s only just getting started.
JORKES
There’s no doubt that 2023 was Jorkes’ breakout year. The Germany-born, Austria-based producer, DJ, label-head and promoter is hyper-focused on building community within their local scene through emotive house and techno. Jorkes is the co-founder of label and party series The Freeride Millenium, has a show on Radio 80000, a residency at Stuttgart’s Romantica, and recently released tracks on labels such as Aus, Live At Robert Johnson and Permanent Vacation. At the centre of everything is a dedication to progressing queer culture and community, and providing a safe space for self-expression, joy and freedom. On February 2nd, the artist releases their new EP Animal on Live at Robert Johnson. It’s three tracks of pure, unimpeded energy choc-full of sensuous bass, spoken word and teasing harmonies to create an honest and enthralling expression of self.

GRETA LEVSKA
Lithuanian-born, Ibiza-based DJ and producer Greta Levska is on a mission to make you move. She had a huge 2023 with packed-out performances at Pikes, Destino and a residency at Amnesia Presents, as well as a Barcelona debut at Input Club. She already has some exciting gigs lined up this year at London’s Dalston Den, Barcelona’s Apolo and Saarbrücken’s Sektor Heimat, and then there’s the productions. She’s made a name for herself with hard-hitting house and techno tracks released on Get Physical, Dance Trax and Shall Not Fade, and has a whole lot more lined up this year. She’s remixing the first ever Get Physical release “Put Put Put” by M.A.N.D.Y and will remix a track from Roland Leeskar’s forthcoming album on Get Physical. She was named Ben Malone’s Future 5 Artists of the Year on Kiss FM, and counts Sarah Story and Jaguar as fans; so there’s big things coming in 2024.
SCHAK
Over the last two years Schak has gone from unknown producer to dance music royalty. He released his debut single on Patrick Topping’s TRICK label, and racked up millions of streams and thousands of radio plays, with his “Moving All Around (Jumpin’)” track peaking at #46 in the UK charts. In 2023 Mixmag invited Schak into their infamous Lab live stream and named him breakout DJ of the year, while Amazon Music featured him as part of their DJ Mag HQ takeover. He wrapped up 2023 with his biggest show to date – a sold out hometown headline at NX in Newcastle, and the fulfilment of a lifelong dream for the young artist. He kicks off 2024 with brand new release “Got No Money” feat. Vula, a thunderous, uptempo house banger with euphoric vocals and hammering bass, dropping on January 26th via TRICK / Ministry of Sound.
