Kraftwerk’s Florian Schneider Dies

Schneider, an electronic music pioneer, was 73 years old.

Reports have confirmed that Kraftwerk cofounder Florian Schneider has died, aged 73. No reason was given by his family for the death, but tributes and shock have quickly spread throughout the Internet.

Schneider was Born on April 7, 1947 in Düsseldorf, Germany, and founded Kraftwerk in 1969 with Ralf Hütter. Through albums like 1974’s Autobahn and 1976’s Radioactivity, band  influenced electronic music enormously, inspiring early electro, techno and hip hop.

The band released 10 studio albums, and were nominated for a number of Grammys, winning a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, a Hall of Fame award for Autobahn in 2015, and the Best Dance/Electronic Album for 3-D The Catalogue in 2018.
