Legend of Detroit House Music Mike Huckaby Passes Away

RIP Mike Huckaby.

One of the most significant figures in Detroit house and techno, as well as a world-renowned DJ and producer, Mike Huckaby passed away from undisclosed complications on Friday 24th April 2020.

Releasing dozens of records across his twenty-five year career on classic house labels such as Harmonie Park and Third Ear, Huckaby also remixed some of the most significant names across the techno scene including Model 500, Loco Dice and DeepChord.

Respected equally for his immense knowledge of house music history alongside his technical prowess, Huckaby was a strong and consistent link between the United States and Europe.

Record buyer and manager at Record Time, he also ran workshops and mentored several fresh generations of Detroit producers. A particular favourite in Berlin, Huckaby had been playing the city’s legendary Tresor since 1997. And in 2012, he even named a full EP in honour of the club.
