Drum & Bass kingpins Fabio & Grooverider show some love to some of their most timeless and surefire dance floor weapons for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.
Drum & Bass would sound very different without UK industry stalwarts Fabio & Grooverider. The legendary duo has helped shape the genre since day one with their seminal residencies, such as Rage being the first ever weekly jungle beats, endless classic tunes, and iconic sets all over the world. Their style knows no bounds, as demonstrated on several vital compilations, and all these years later, the pair are still pushing the envelope each time they step out, whether in the club or on Radio 1, with their unique collaboration with the Outlook Orchestra. 2022 even saw them make their acting debut on BBC 1’s King Gary!”
Here they deliver some of their top tracks — from rave bangers, timeless classics, and D&B tunes that have resonated with them for decades.
Lennie De Ice – We Are I.E. [IE Records]
The original game changer and firm favourite in our sets for a long time. It has never failed to set RAGE on fire.
Adam F – Metropolis [Metalheadz]
A dark dance floor destroyer, no sound system was safe from this.
LTJ Bukem – Music [Goodlooking Records]
An end of night classic. Full respect for GLR output back in those days, forward-thinking music.
DJ SS – The Lighter [Formation Records]
SS never left our record box back in the day. All of his tracks are absolute tunes, and this one was a firm favourite.
Pascal – P-Funk Era [Frontline]
So many good memories from this track that redefined an era.
Goldie, Rufige Crew – Terminator [Synthetic]
We remember dropping this at Rage and clearing the dance floor! Goldie was with us and was gutted. A tune way ahead of its time that came good and turned hardcore upside down.
Alex Reece – Pulp Fiction [Metalheadz]
This track will always live on as one of the greatest DnB tracks ever.
Champion Sound – Q Project [Legend Records]
This was a massive game changer, and alongside “We Are I.E” was the first Jungle record.
Roni Size, DJ Die – Music Box [Full Cycle]
One of Roni Sizes best, and that’s saying something!
Logistics – Together [Hospital Records]
One of the best DnB tracks ever. It’s such an uplifting liquid DnB track and a certified anthem.
Grooverider, Codename John – The Avenger [Metalheadz]
Choppy hard beats, everything you would expect from a Grooverider offering, part of his last EP for Metalheadz under his Codename John alias.
Camo & Crooked – No Way Out (feat. Mira Lu Kovacs) [MODUS]
It’s all about the drop on this tune, nuff said.
